gimp-data-extras software package provides Extra brushes and patterns for GIMP, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gimp-data-extras
gimp-data-extras is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gimp-data-extras package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gimp-data-extras *
You will get with gimp-data-extras package name, version, architecture and description in a table
